LIBRARY FACILITY

The central library of Rangpur Community Dental College and Hospital, one of the best among various dental institutions in Northern Bangladesh, which offers timely, accurate and current information to users for education, teaching and research. With an objective to acquire, manage, and disseminate health sciences information to students, faculty and research scholars, the library has been renovated, which spreads over 4000 Sq feet and can accommodate 200 users at a time. The Library’s collection and services are designed to support the college’s vision “To be South Asia’s leading college of dentistry” and to be responsive to the individual’s information needs for teaching, learning, and research relating to oral healthcare services.
The Library holds over 5,000 volumes on dentistry, as well as the basic sciences and selected medical specialities. Its collection of over 3,000 books and 2,000 bound journal volumes date back to the mid-2000s and is international in scope. Library located on the ground floor of the Rangpur Community Dental College academic building, maintains up-to-date resources in oral health sciences and is dedicated to delivering information to the library users and encourages interaction with the teaching staff and students of the college in order to optimize its services in collection development, reference enquiry and library user’s education programs.
In order to provide an appropriate and comfortable environment and for individual and group study, the central library has been equipped with a separate fully air-conditioned reading hall (under construction), faculty reading area, a separate audio-visual room and a state of art computer lab with over 100 computers. The central library is equipped with Barcode Integration system to deal with the library management in the institution. It also offers scanning and photocopying services for the student community members. The library is subscribing online journals and over 100 print journals to support the scholarly and informational needs of the institution. The Wi-Fi internet network facility has been also provided by the library for accessing to e-journals/e-books though out the campus. The library provides access to more than 30 print magazines and newspapers for the benefit of students and faculty.
